You’re probably used to traditional dental X-rays — flat, two-dimensional pictures that show us a slice of your teeth and bone. They’re great for catching cavities and getting a quick look around, but they have a limit: everything is squished onto one plane. Roots overlap. Nerves hide behind bone. Sinuses blur into teeth.
A CBCT scanner takes hundreds of images in a single pass around your head and stitches them together into a full three-dimensional model of your jaw, teeth, sinuses, airway, and nerves. We can rotate it, slice through it, zoom in on a single tooth, or measure bone in millimetres — all without guessing. It’s the difference between a flat map and an actual 3D model of the city.
The Green X12 takes that idea a step further. It captures panoramic, cephalometric, and 3D images on a single platform, uses Vatech’s low-dose imaging technology to keep radiation as low as reasonably possible, and produces ultra-sharp scans with field-of-view options that range from a single tooth all the way up to the full skull. In short: it’s the right tool for almost every situation where 3D imaging actually adds value.
Why This Is a Game-Changer for Dental Implants

Is a CBCT Scan Safe?
This is the question we get most often, and the honest answer is yes — when used appropriately. CBCT delivers significantly less radiation than a traditional medical CT scan, and the Green X12 is built around low-dose imaging — we choose the smallest field of view and the lowest dose that will get us a diagnostic-quality image. According to the American Dental Association, CBCT should be used only when 2D imaging won’t give us the information we need — that’s exactly how we use it.
The scan itself is fast (often under 30 seconds), you stand or sit still while the unit rotates around your head, and there’s nothing in your mouth. No bite plates, no goop, no claustrophobic tube.
